I've got an SQA-5H plus expansion enclosure that has been running basically without problems (or at least nothing that couldn't be solved with a reboot) for a couple of years now at full capacity (i.e. 5 disks in the server plus 5 in the expansion enclosure). It's now showing all of the drives in the expansion enclosure as missing, even though the enclosure is properly connected to the main server and is powered, and all disks in the enclosure have green lights. Reboots haven't helped the server to recognise the drives, does anyone have any suggestions?

thanks

Did you recently move you SQA-5H, or for some reason disconnect the SQA-Ex?

The eSATA port on the SQA-5H/SQA-Ex (not sure if it's one of them or even both) seems to be recessed too deep, that's why it can be tricky to get a connection.
What you describe sounds exactly like the eSATA cable didn't connect properly.
You could try a different cable, although I assume you'd have the same problem.

When I had this problem I just turned off my server, replugged the eSATA cable on both side, and turned it back on... after a couple of tries it always worked again.
Once I even tried to chip off a bit of plastic on the eSATA cable connector so it can be pushed deeper, that didn't really help though :(.
