I am running a first-generation SQA-5h with 4 drives in it.
I'm still to make up my mind whether it will be worth upgrading to WHS 2011, but if I were to do that (modulo some sort of DE replacement) I am not sure whether the 2 Gb of RAM that is the maximum with Atom 330 will be enough. If it is not, then I would have to gut the unit and replace it with some new hardware.
Does anyone know if the upgrade of the motherboard to the Atom D510 with 4Gb RAM is simple to do, or whether this would also involve dealing with upgrading the hard drive controller etc etc? Will the temperatures remain low enough?
Tranquil PC seem to sell the motherboards they've been using in the series 2 products for about £80, which seems like a much cheaper upgrade process then getting a whole new server.
Are there any new faster/more energy efficient Atoms in the pipeline?

Hi
I'm looking to do exactly the same as this. I have a BBS running on an Atom 330 and 2GB Ram. Considering upgrade / rebuild, etc.
Be really interested to hear what you decided and whether you are happy with it.
Thanks
Mark

Alas, I haven't actually done anything in this direction.
It seems that Intel has launched (to practically no PR effort) the Cedar Trail range of Atoms, which are a tiny bit faster than the periovious generation. I've not seen anywhere that would sell the appropriate motherboards with these chips however, and it seems Tranquil have switched to just selling the Riley servers.
It seems that AMD's Brazos platform is faster than the Atom. Maybe this would be the way to go? The power requirements seem lower than the Atom 330, so presumably that should be fine?
