I just bought a Acer home server and was very pleased to see that the add-in everyone kept recommending was already installed and apparently licensed. But my version is older and would like to know if I can install an updated version and if so how to do so without deleting the license information.
Details: Acer Aspire easyStore h342 preinstalled with "Windows Home Server with Power Pack 3" and LIghts Out version 0.8.2.234 licensed to "Wistron Corporation"

Wistron licensed version 0.8.x. Starting with 1.0 Lights-Out requires a new license. This license includes all 1.x releases on one platform.
You can upgrade from 0.8.x to 1.5.x and keep the same feature set, this is called the unlicensed "Community edition". If you like to use the advanced features you have to buy a license.
Here's a feature matrix: http://homeserversof...ture_matrix.htm
P.S. Moved to v1 forum
