I am a desktop/repair technician with over 20 years of experience, but for some reason Windows Home Server 2011 has got me stumped! I've been trying to install it for over 2 weeks now! No matter what configuration or available guides I use, I cannot get the server to connect to the interent to even do updates! I have specified a static IP above the one allocated to DHCP, I have tried turning off firewalls on the server and the router, I even tried connecting the server directly to my cable modem w/o the router and the same issue, no internet connection. I thought this may be a network card issue (even installed the newest NIC and chipset drivers) so I decided to try an install of Win7. As soon as the install completed, the system connected and started downloading Windows Updates! I even followed a guide made specifically for my router (LinkSys WRT160N v2) to no avail. I also went as far as purchasing a copy of Pearson's Home Server Unleashed and that gave me no help. PLEASE if anyone has ANY ideas please let me know. I am posting a copy of my ipconfig and will answer any questions that anyone thinks may help. Thank You! (BTW, my server DHCP is set from 100 - 109 only, thus the 110 IP on the server)

Try a different branded NIC in a PCI slot?

I agree with Geeba. I could not get the two NICs built into the motherboard to work when I tried to install WHS 2011. I threw in a generic PCI NIC card (i.e., one that is quite common and uses generic drivers) and then disabled the onboard NICs. WHS found the drivers and installed them. The card was able to communicate fine with the network. After getting all the updates for WHS, I downloaded the drivers for the NICs on the motherboard. After re-enabling the NICS in the bios, I installed the drivers and they then worked.
