Obviously a newby here with not much WHS experience. Any help you can provide would be appreciated.

I have not been able to connect my Windows 7 Home premium computer to my newly installed WHS 2011. I see the following when I begin the installation:

Attached File  connect01.PNG (87.49K)
Number of downloads: 22

After pressing "next" I get the followning:

Attached File  connect02.PNG (91.99K)
Number of downloads: 25

I have tried shutting down all programs and restarting both the computer and file server.

Any ideas?

I get this error when there's a pending Windows Update event that will only initiate when you select Shutdown.

1. Make sure all updates are installed (both server and client).
2. Reboot (both server and client).
3. Perform a "Disk Cleanup" (cleanup system files) on (both server and client)
This will help clear any post states.

4. Retry the connector process.

Thanks Gary - your suggestions got me past the last error message. Now I get the following:

Attached File  Connect07.PNG (145.18K)
Number of downloads: 18

Any other suggestions?

Thanks again,

ED

All set up. The error indicated a few updates I needed to install on my Windows 7 computer. All went well after that.

Thanks again for the help.

i wish mine was that simple.
same issue. Homeserver connector fails at that point. 95% "connecting to the network" and then rolls back after 10 minutes of thinking about it.
only my win7 x64 Ultimate box and my wifes winXPpro laptop were faultless
the otherhalfs win7 x64 pro desktop and work laptop both fail (fixed her desktop. not sure what sorted it, one of the following)
plus my HTPC running win7 x64 homepremium fails.

I have tried:-
switch off IPv6 on all client and server machines
add a host entry for the server on all client machines.
renaming client machines after removing any trace of homeserver v1 connector software
connecting via "find my server"

I do not have funky characters for either machine names or passwords. just letters and or numbers.
the machines are connecting over cat6 copper to a gigabit switch
the machines are fully upto date with microsoft updates

all of the above fails.

i haven't even got to the server shares that seem to only be available when they feel like it even when everything's connected.
however my Amigas mounting a share via SMBFS don't have any problems at all!

homeserver 2011 as a consumer product - fails. but i've migrated all my data, and paid for a "drive extender" clone, so i'm not going back.... or maybe not yet.
