Accessing Whs 2011 Shared Files On My Android

I am having an access problem trying to mount WHS 2011 shared files/folders on my Android tablet. This may be an easy solution, but it is eluding me. After installing WHS 2011, I can remotely access WHS by ***.homeserver.com and I can access via remote desktop. However, there are times when I need to access remotely files on the WHS server. I need to upload, download, rename files to/from my Android tablet. There are file manager apps such as CIFS Manager, ES File Explorer, etc that allow remote files/folders to be mounted, but I cannot get the proper URL to get these apps to find the WHS file server. If I am on my local network, I can use a local IP address (e.g., 192.168.1.120) with any of these Android apss to mount. But when I go remote, none of these apps will accept my DynDns address or ***.homeserver.com. I have forwarded ports 80 and 443 in my router to point to the local WHS IP address. This is driving me crazy. Have I missed the obvious here?

Can you access from a PC? That will narrow it down to being an access problem or an Android problem.

I can access WHS's remote web access and with remote desktop from PCs and Android. The problem is that I cannot mount a WHS shared folder on my Android tablet when I am away from my local LAN. All of the various Android apps cannot seem to find the shared folders even though I am forwarding the correct ports on my router (at least I think I am forwarding the proper ports - 8080 & 443).

The default is 80, not 8080. Have you changed it?

My mistake. See OP. I meant 80.

You could take a different approach and VPN from Andriod and then browse to the folder.

@memman

You are trying to access the files using 2 totally different protocols. When you are on your LAN I believe it is using a SAMBA connection. You can not do this over the internet without additional aspects installed on the server to tunnel the connection. When you use the internet site to get to your files you are using HTTP or HTTPS which are not supported by the file explorers you specified. There are other options like WebFolders4WHS which I use on my WHSv1 (which uses WebDAV, and not supported by ES Explorer) but I would recommend installing a FTP server on your server if you want to access files regularly on the LAN or on the go. ES Explorer or AndFTP (I use them both) will both work with standard secure FTP protocols.
