What devices are available in the UK at present for wireless video streaming to my TV, other than XBox & PS3?

I am dead keen on WHS but I think Microsoft missed a trick...

A mini mail server collecting the mail and holding it on the server allowing me to access it in all the folders etc over the internet would be a brilliant ad in...

I guess MS is a little scared coz this would then become very attractive for many small businesses...

I use the Philips SLM5500, not a bad little bit of kit really. It was selling relatively cheap at ?99 on the Philips website before Christmas but I can't find it now. It does wired and wireless as well as High Definition. The Philips Media Manager software installs on WHS or you can use Twonky or other UPnP server.

Just need to upgrade my TV now!

Terry,

The Netgear EVA8000 indeeds looks like the most interesting media streamer for me as well. A few questions though:
-Do you use a TV-tuner card with it and if so which card? Is this card running on your WHS?
-Are you able to use an electronic programming guide? The manual states that only US is supported, and for me as a dutch resident that does not do the trick, neither for you I assume...

I am thinking about getting one of these Netgear EVA8000's too, I just wondered if it streamed AVI's wirelessly ok and also when it says it will detect all your media files on your NETWORK. Does that mean it will happily search a wireless storage device, basically a hard disk on the network that is sharing files?

I am looking to get something like that too, a basic 500gb storage unit to keep all my films on and be able to stream them to anywhere in the house, be it the netgear or a laptop/desktop etc...

Well, you don't need to be limited to wireless - you can use HomePlugs to connect any device. Then you could use the popular PopCorn hour, if you can find one. Or any of these which I found simply by Googling "Multimedia external hard disk enclosures"

Hi there, I'm using a Helios X5000 media streamer....DVD/music streams very well wirelessly (not yet tried wired- should be better for HD), but DVD drawer is poor. The streaming of Divx files gives excellent picture quality through upscaling (I was suprised that streaming media appeared better than DVD picture quality, but maybe I'm biased). Next purchase is a reasonable amp as this is a let down at present!!

Sorry, forgot to add, the GUI isn't that great for WHS on the X5K, and takes quite some time if you've got alot of files to get to what you want

Not trying to hijack the thread, but responding to your comment, I installed PMM onto my WHS box. Installation went smoothly, but when I launch the program and try to go to "Settings", PMM immediately terminates. I uninstalled, reinstalled, and confirmed that the same thing happens. Any suggestions on how to properly install PMM on WHS would be appreciated. TIA.

I am looking at the Showcenter 250 from pinnacle. Does anyone has some experience with this device combined with Windows Home Server?

Since kicking off this topic I have been testing an Archos 605WiFi PVP. Streams videos & music from WHS perfectly and plays to TV using the optional docking station. Comes in varioss sizes up to 160Gb. Gives you the benefit of streaming at home to TV (or to the device in any room PLUS being able to use the device as a travelling video/music player. Connecting to wireless network very simple.

Certainly the best option I have tried out so far.
