In order for you and your family to enjoy the functions and features of your WHS you will need to add user accounts for them to access the server's resources. This will require you to set up a user/password on their computer and a matching user/password on the server. By default the server requires a strong password which consists of eight characters in length and three of the following: UPPERCASE, lowercase, numbers, and special characters. The special characters are limited to the characters on the top row of your keyboard.
Start by opening the WHS 2011 Dashboard application. Select the User tab and click on the Add a user account wizard on the right side of the DB.

This opens the Add a User Account wizard. Now complete the hi-lighted fields and click next. The information for the user account you create must match the account information on your client computers.

This brings us to the screen where you get to determine the level of access a WHS user has to your WHS Shares. The options include: No Access, Read Only, and Read/Write. Remember, if you grant somebody R/W access, they can also delete any file in the shared folder they have access.

The next screen will determine if the user is granted Remote Access to your home server, and to what resources they can access remotely. For a more complete explanation of this feature, click on the 'What is Remote Web Access?' link at the bottom of the dialog box. Click the 'Create account' button to continue.

That's all there is to creating a user account on your WHS 2011 home server.

Repeat this process for any additional accounts you wish to create. You may create up to 10 user accounts.
