    • WHS2011 will not snapshot after upgrade to Win10

Thanks. Tried that before hand. What did work (I think) was installing the UEFI fix for Windows Server. After that rebooted, reconfigured and it worked. It was working on Windows 8 without the UEFI fix where from what I read it should not have worked on 8 without the fix. Go figure?
    • Cannot reinstall Lights-out 1.6.0.2375
      By DirkDevlin · Posted
I have noticed on my Windows 10 machine that the Lights-out icon showed as disconnected. in an attempt to correct this problem I uninstalled the client software but could find no way of reinstalling it. I went to my 2012 r2 server and in the L-O console the PC displayed normal as if the software was installed OK. There was seems to be no way of removing it within the console to then reconfigure it to reinstall the client. So I decided to uninstall the L-O add-in from my server to reinstall, hoping this would fix the problem. After removing the add-in and restarting the server I now get a message saying 'The add-in is already installed'. Any ideas on how I can resolve this?
    • Shares - A Nightmare!

Not sure I understand this, sorry. How does NTFS permissions differ from sharing to Everyone? I'm using Stablebit DrivePool and had all sorts of issues when I tried to share out the whole drive pool it created.  I resorted to sharing out each of my media folders on that pool drive to "Everyone".  Now my particular circumstance could be different to most because of a post I have here:- http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_10-security/cant-connect-to-microsoft-family-at-the-moment/d4f7e3eb-60ab-4cf4-935b-5924bd9d35b3 I'm the Administrator on this Server but I can't currently verify my Microsoft Account and I believe this undermines a whole raft of other actions I have taken when setting up other Family users.  The principle one being that the User folders I've created on the drive pool, when I attempt to share one to that particular user, Windows reports it can't find that user. So until the 23rd September, I'm stumped :'(  Can't set up the shares and SERVER, whilst shown in Explorer on my laptop client and expanding that shows my Music folder and everything under it; then can't be accessed using \\SERVER\share using RDP or a web browser connecting to Logitech Media Server on that server, it has to be the explicit static IP address assigned to the NIC on the Server.  So I've no idea what mess I've got myself into now [edit] Sorry should say "SERVER" in RDP and http://SERVER:9000/ in my browser for the LMS access.  These have to be 192.nnn.n.nn and http://192.nnn.n.nn:9000/ in my browser respectively.

No, after reading around I decided not to use a Homegroup.  If I've understood this correctly a Homegroup just shares media and nothing else, so, Music, Pictures & Videos and then only stuff that's either in, or linked to, the libraries in those specialist folders.  So an unnecessary complication in my view. Homegroups are not to be confused with Home Network either, again if I've read correctly.
    • New NAS futureproof: transcoding h.265
      By jokerigno · Posted
First of all thank you for your reply. Then, the answer is Yes. I want to buy a NAS that has enough CPU to stream/transcode h.265 videos to any support in my lan (smart tv, smartphone ecc.). I've only found business products (a bit too expensive for my needs).
