Great. There are both USB3 and 2 ports, in case the USB3 does have a problem.

    Ethernet To Usb3 Adaptor?
Hi all. I'm attemping to test a bare-metal recovery of my new Windows 8 ultrabook.

I loaded the hot fix for WHS 2011 which allows clients with UEFI BIOA and GPT partitions, so my backup completes. However, my Yogi laptop has no ethernet port. And no restores over wireless.

Has anybody tested an ethernet to USB3 adaptor with a WHS 2011 recovery?

    Thanks,
    Richard

I have a question pertaining to this topic. Can I install the WHS2011 connector software on my WHS v1 computer? I would like to use WHS2011 to back up my photo directory on my WHS v1.

Bobbyc, for the SMARt add-in I still have to logon to the console... that's what I have to do now.

Drashna, I do not understand... are you saying I can install the 2011 connector on the WHS V1?

    Thanks for your time.

Can Whs 2011 Monitor Whs V1?
I have a WHs V1 and WHS2011 on the same network. The V1 holds data, WHS2011 backs up my computers.
The only problem is that with no computer having the V1 connector installed, I do not get any messages from the V1 server. If a drive is going bad, I will not know until I log on.
Is it possible to install the WHS2011 connector on the V1 server? Or is there a better way to monitor the health of the hard drives on the V1 server?
    Thanks for your time!

As a user of Whs V1, this is good to hear... but have you tried to restore a 64bit client yet? I have been haunting the users boards, but I cannot get it to work. At this point it's the only reason I am even thinking about moving to Whs 2011.

Is there a thread stating the must-have add-ins, such as BDBB? It would be great to know about these before you need them.

Sorry to be a pain, but I am not getting anywhere. 32 bit computers I can restore all day long, but 64 bit computers never find the WHS. I couldn't figure out how to make the flash drive file bootable and the x:files DVD doesn't find the WHS either.

Is it just time to abandon the first version of WHS? For me it's crippled without the restore option.

Dave, I've not had any luck finding that restore ISO from Drashna and Drashna is not responding to messages. Could that ISO possibly be any where else?

Hexland, I realize this topic is a year old, but would you happen to still have that Client Restore Disc ISO?

Fantastic - I was getting worried. I will try Drashna's drivers on a test restore.

Client Restore Problems With 64 Bit Os?
    Hey all,

My Windows 7 Home Professional 64 bit laptop started having some issues. I figured I would restore it with a known good backup.

Couldn't get it to work. At the start of the restore, my WHS is never detected. I try to point to it manually but no luck - it's as if the network is never seen.

Did some Googling and it seems it's because the restore program is 32 bit and the laptop is 64 bit. The Google find stated to remove the hard drive and perform the restore using another computer - not vivable in my case as the hard drive is a pain to remove.

So, it this correct? You can't restore a 64 bit computer with WHS V1?
