Hi guys, I'm looking for some help installing SMF forum software on to my WHS. Thanks to the addin I have PHP & MySQL installed, but I get permissons issues with the following items

Critical Error!
You're on a windows server, and some crucial files are not writable. Please ask your host to give write permissions to the user PHP is running under for the files in your SMF installation. The following files or directories need to be writable:

* attachments
* avatars
* cache
* Packages
* Packages/installed.list
* Smileys
* Themes
* agreement.txt
* Settings.php
* Settings_bak.php

When I select the security on the files, from Windows, it won't let me make them writable.

Any ideas?

If you haven't already, I would put the files in a "new" folder on the D:\ drive, Basically, something like "D:\inetpub\smf" Add either "guests" or IIS_servername as an account with read and write access. Make sure "network services" has write access to the windows temp directory too. And make sure you "replace entries on all child objects" or whatever the option is in the advanced security options.

Thanks for the tips Drashna, could you possibly put it in Dummies guide for me please?

Hi, I sorted out the permissions with this post http://simplemachine...?topic=143537.0

Now however, I'm getting problems with MySQL. I used the PHP and MySQL addin's, but I get the following errors

The additional features for working with linked tables have been deactivated. To find out why click here. The output is below

Bookmarked SQL query: Disabled
Browser transformation: Disabled

$cfg['Servers'][$i]['history'] ... not OK [ Documentation ]

$cfg['Servers'][$i]['designer_coords'] ... not OK [ Documentation ]

The 2nd error is Your PHP MySQL library version 5.0.51a differs from your MySQL server version 5.1.36. This may cause unpredictable behavior.

I have formatted the server and re-installed with the Xfiles 1.55 DVD, but I still get the same errors.

Any ideas?

The option is unavailable in pma, due to the 2nd error, as far as I can see.

Those errors shouldn't stop you from being about to use phpMyAdmin. You can also use the command line to manually add the database.
