Hello All.
Had a mishap with my server . I decided to do a re-install to clear clutter but have ended-up causing havoc. Re-install will not work.
I have bought a new 1tb drive to copy my shared folders too but am unsure of how to do it. I have read this guide http://social.micros...d5-8e573697777f but it has left me a little confused.
I am hoping someone could walk me through the process in a simple way . As I type this my new drive is being formatted in my vista machine and the largest shared drive is also plugged into said computer awaiting transferof data.
Hope you can help
Pete

That should be a bit more clear and helpful. It's written based on my .... "numerous" reinstalls. (by numerous I mean hundreds).
It's tried and it works very well.

Quick Question ...
quote''
Copy all the folders in "shared" to either D:\shares or to \\SERVER\sharename (where "SERVER" is your server's name, and "sharename" is the respective shares). Once you've cleared the drive, either just move on to the next drive, or verify which drive you've emptied and add it to the pool. Be careful when adding the drives, as if you add the wrong drive, you will lose the data that was on it.

I have noticed after checking files and folders in shares that not all the drives carry the same data, should I copy the drive I think has the correct amount or copy all. Will copying all the drives add or overwrite data.
Hope this makes sense.

It does make sense. ;)
Best way to put this, The Drive Extender puts files onto different drives ... randomly. Basically. One drive won't necessarily have the entire folder struction, or even half. If you had duplication on, you'll have two copies of the files for that share, but you'll never know where exactly. Best bet is to copy and overwrite everything. This way, you may double your copy time, but you can be sure everything for the disk will make it to the new shares (as long as it's still on one of those disks).
