Hi all,

I've created a user for my friends to access some of my folders remotely. The remote access works well and my friends can login and access the folders. However, when they try to download a file, they get an access denied error...
Using another user with read/write permissions works well. I do believe that the user doesn't have to have write permission if you just want access to download files, not upload.

Googled around the problem but couldn't find any solution. Can anyone help?

Thanks,

Nuno

But have you looked at the actual Permissions of said file(s) to verify the Users rights?

BTW, Hello and Welcome to WGS.

Hi wardog,

Thanks for the quick reply. I took and deeper look and now found out the problem. I had originally downloaded the files to the Public folder. In order to move them quicker to another folder, I moved them directly on the home server. This kept the files with the Public folder authorization instead of the ne folder authorization.

All sorted out now. This means that I will have to use my laptop when moving files between folders, which takes a very long time...

Thanks for the help and the warm welcome.

Nuno
