I have webguide installed and love to use it to PC's and such. The only thing is the transcoder transcodes to WMV format. Is there anyway to change this to x264 MP4 format? I need this setup for testing to Linux and Android. I am not interested in ORB as I want my on solution and not an outside source. If anyone knows how to change that please pass it on. Thanks a million!!!

IIRC you probably want to look at installing 3ivx codec into WebGuide.

what is IIRC(if I remember correctly?) and what would 3ivx gain? I need to find out what controls inside of Webguide I need to change to force it to transcode to mp4 or m4v instead of the wmv format? I love webguide cause it just works and it is local on my machine, but I simply cannot find any info of making changes to it. Does anyone have th authors email by chance?

again thanks

sigh ......... I guess pictures will suffice here. WebGuideWHS_Install.pdf, specifically pg's 9 and 10.

Doug Berrett, the author of WebGuide went to work for Microsoft quite some time ago and hasn't with any regularity of late participated much in supporting the now aged but still very functional WebGuide project. Understandably so as his new job I'm sure keeps him busy. And as such I would refer to WebGuide as now being "User Supported". He hasn't logged-in to the support forum of his website asciiexpress.com since Dec 22, 2008.

Doug, if you read this I mean no malice in saying the above. I yet use WebGuide here and don't imagine changing unless something radically improves on it's functionality that serves my purposes in ways I can't ponder atm. It's always pleasant to see someone get the opportunity to be involved with the projects of where you now call "work'. Congrats to you in your new and future endeavors.

Pages 9 and 10 cover the DVD issue. My issue is that the transcoder takes whatever video you have and spits out a WMV2 codec video to your remote PC when viewing VIA the webpage to stream to some other location outside you home network. This results in videos that will only play in WMP. I have an Android device now that does X264 and MPEG-4 video. So I am trying to change the transcoder output from WMV2(set in an ASF/WVX file) to a X264 set in a MP4 file. I was hoping that someone might have accomplished it. I have other means in which I am attempting to accomplish with subsonic, but the issue there is that is uses flash, and flash is not yet available for Android.

Thanks for the help though, and I really wish that he would stop by and give me some pointers, cause this seems to be the only viable method to transcode at this time.
