I'm looking to buy an EX490 in a couple of weeks time and have a couple of questions before I do...
1) Has there been any mention from HP about the "next" MediaSmart Servers to follow on from the EX490/5?
2) A bit wishful here, but are there likely to be any Easter offers? I'd be gutted to fork out more than I needed to for the sake of a week or so!
3) With regards to RAID, I know WHS doesn't support it but there I've seen something about an option that mirrors data across multiple drives. Has anyone had any experience with this?
4) Obviously WiFi is going to be slower than ethernet (especially for the initial backup) but is it fine to have clients connected via WiFi for normal use?
Think that's about it for now. I'll be sure to add more questions as I think them up!
Cheers

WHS is not a club, it is a lifestyle! ;)
Moving on:
1. No
2. Keep a sharp eye on your fav etailors and good luck!
3. I use WHS duplication to perform this function on some of my shares folders. I have never had to test it yet...
4. I would do an initial backup wired. After that wifi should be fine, unless your computer data changes dramatically between backups.

Just to cover 3&4 again, duplication "basically" mirrors the data. Specificially, it makes sure there are two copies of the files, and that these files are on seperate HDDs.
And as for WiFi, it's slow in general. Initial backup over wired, definitely. And if you're going to be streaming a lot of files (or large files, aka media), you'll probably want to have Wireless N.
