I've been running Lights Out on my HP Mediasmart EX495 whs v1 for approximately six months. I don't pay much attention to it because it just does its job in the background. A great tool. However, a drive failed with bad sectors and all my LO backup settings were lost and reset to default. Device properties now give no options to schedule backups, nor do scheduled Calendar Events work. The default WHS service is the only backup service running. Did the program revert from a registered to a community version?
Would it be advisable to uninstall/reinstall Lights Out to correct the situation?
Thanks for any help.

Sorry for my late reply, missed to answer after reading.
The client backup is enabled in client properties: http://www.homeserve..._properties.htm
Look at the status tab, do you still see your license? Otherwise reinstall your license.Did the program revert from a registered to a community version?

Hi Tinus, many thanks for your reply.
I went ahead with the uninstall/reinstall of versions 1.5.1.1555 and the latest beta. Unfortunately, the same backup problem presists with both versions. I can see my license, however there is no option to schedule client backup times in LightsOut. I do not see the Windows Home Server Computer properties option. I only see the IP based computer option. That is why I asked if LO reverted back to the community version. Perhaps because of my disk failure, a corrupted file, flag or certificate of sorts invalidated my license.
I've tried a number of things in order to perform a clean install. I ran the uninstall on the WHS console, deleted the LightsOut directory, went throught the registry to delete any references to LightsOut, and uninstalled the client program off my desktop pc. But still no options to set backup times in LightsOut after the reinstall.
There is a connectivty error with the beta:
"Checking default IIS site on your Windows Home Server......
FAILED: Default website is Windows Home Server Site"
I'm not sure what this means since I can still remote into the whs server and console. However, no connectivity error when using version 1.5.1.1555. No backup options available with either version.
I've uninstalled LightsOut for now while contemplating my next step...

Ok - then please zip the folder C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\LightsOut and send the archive to support at homeserversoftware dot com. Then rename that folder and install Lights-Out again. By renaming that folder you reset all Lights-Out settings.I do not see the Windows Home Server Computer properties option. I only see the IP based computer option.
Where do you get that error message? There is a connectivty error with the beta:
"Checking default IIS site on your Windows Home Server......

"send the archive to support"
OOPS. Did I mention that I'm fairly new to the WHS world.
I'll have to reinstall version 1.5.1.1555 first. I deleted the LightsOut directory.
"Where do you get that error message?"
Just part of the detail from the WHS toolkit 1.1 that show there is a whs connectivity issue after restarting IIS.

Agreed. I'm not really sure what's going on with this message other than the error only occurs with the latest beta for version 1.
