I've been working on an iPhone version of WHS Mobile. Unfortunately, until I buy the Apple iPhone Developer membership ($99), I won't be able to publish it to the app store. However, if you have a jailbroken iPhone, I'll be able to give you a repository URL for Cydia.
I'm not ready to release it just yet, but here are some screen shots:

I'm going to put it out for free. :)

Oh, I just thought I'd mention.. The share icons are actually saved folder.jpg files in each share (set to hidden of course) - for customization. I can upload the icons to my site when I make the app available.

Brent,

This is awesome. I have been looking for something like this on my ipod touch for a while. Can you expand on upnp thing i see in the app? Does this app allow play/stream audio video or is it download only? If the upnp allows streaming then you have one great app on your hands. I also like you are willing to give it for free but if you release this and works great, i'm sure community will donate, I know I will. Keep it up and let us know when you release it.

Thanks.

I *may* add a media streaming feature in the future (or while I wait for my iPhone to arrive). The UPnP feature allows you to manage port forwards (if your router supports automatic port forwarding, known as UPnP).

Brent, this looks great. I'd love to be involved with this, either testing, developing, etc. I've got a jailbroken iPhone 3g 3.0 and have started learning iPhone dev. Also have WHS going. Please let me know if/when I can install this.

Thanks,

Jeff

Great news Brent; can't wait for this to be released. I have been jealous of HP medismart server owners (I have an own-built WHS box) so looking forward to your app. Any timeframe when it will be released for non-jailbroken phones?

Awsome work.

I'd be more than willing to pay $5-10 for this if it was available on the App store as I don't wan't to jailbreak my iPhone. I'm sure many others would aswell.

I will see. If I do put it in the App store (and it is accepted), it would be v1.0. So I'd release it to jailbreak users first. From what I've read, beta apps aren't allowed in the App store.

I'm just adding the ability to upload files, then I'll share it. :)

Oh instead of using Cydia, which had problems with the settings file.. If you already have a jailbroken iPhone, install this (assuming everyone has upgraded to the fancy new 3.0 firmware) via Cydia. It will make installs so much easier (and work properly), you can do it through iTunes.

I would pay for this ... especially if it allowed streaming mp3's ... that would be awesome to have access to your entire collection on the road.

Hi Brent. Great to see this released.
If the only obstacle to releasing this for un-jailbroken iphones is the $99, then I would be more than willing to help out. I am sure some others would make a contribution as well. Just let me know.
Cheers

I can't get this working properly on my iPhone. I've got the WHS Mobile 1.0.5 add-in installed on my MediaSmart server, and the service appears to be running properly. I've got the iPhone client installed and configured with my domain and WHS Mobile password. I'm running .NET 3.5 SP1. I have port 8169 fowarded properly.

When I open the iPhone client, I get a status message saying "connecting" for 15 seconds or so, then I get the home screen with the "Files, Users, UPnP" options. When I click on any of those, however, nothing happens. The iPhone hangs on that screen for about 60 seconds or so, then exits to the iPhone home screen.

Any suggestions?

Found the problem, and just like I thought, it was a stupid error on my part. While I forwarded the port to my WHS machine, I forgot to open the port in Windows Firewall. All is working perfectly now.

Sorry about that. In the next version, I need to do error handling. Currently it will crash if it has a problem.

Something I just finished..
