Look at the screenshot, attached. All of those issues are non-issues for me and my network, including some that aren't even listed (like the dreaded "COMPUTER has a new hard drive, you should reconfigure backup" message). Yet I need to disable alerts on all but my own computer, because they're so dynamic, and persistent, and reset their ignore status whenever the issue disappears and reappears (like "malware protection" status).

Please tell me there's a way to get these dang issues off my server! Failing that... someone, please, come up with an add-on for this!

edit: Simply an option to "disable computer related notifications" would pretty much cover all issues... to be honest, it's simply that I don't want to be nagged about issues regarding my PCs whenever something comes up, but any issues regarding the server, I'd really like to know about! All these computer-related nags just serve to make WHS "cry wolf

edit edit: "turned on and connected to you network"? o.o

On the clients, right click the connector icon and select "Display Network Health Notifications". That helps a bit.

In the console itself it's not possible. You really should backup those systems (or choose not to backup them), and update the virus scanners :)

 That's exactly what I don't want to do, and why... you may notice... I checked "ignore this". Heck, that's what this topic is all about :P Don't you think I have my reasons for not backing up those systems, or not installing antivirus software? Apparently MS doesn't...

And yeah, I already said: "Yet I need to disable alerts on all but my own computer", so yes, I've already turned off notifications. It's the degradation of "network status" each time it gets a wild hair about a random computer, that really bugs me...

Really that almost seemed like a troll attempt... come on now. <_<

There is no way to stop getting those alerts, save for disabling the alerts on all of the computers. There will still be alerts in WHS. There is nothing we can do about it. Go to the Microsoft WHS social forum and make a recommendation, or join WHS connect and leave feedback about this.

If you don't need to backup the specific computers, you could turn off backups for each one of those computers.

Why did you install the WHS connector software on the machines you don't want to backup and monitor? You can map drives to your WHS server without it. Uninstall the connector software and the alerts will go away.

Why did you install the WHS connector software on the machines you don't want to backup and monitor? You can map drives to your WHS server without it. Uninstall the connector software and the alerts will go away.

But I do want backups. In fact, many of my alerts come from computers that are being backed up, but a backup failed (computer was shut off, canceled, etc), the AV hasn't been updated, or backups haven't been completed because I'm only keeping that PC's backup around until I need a free slot (3 of my 7 PCs don't even exist as that system anymore, but I want to keep the backup around).

The simple fact - and what I don't understand where the difficulty in agreement is - is that there needs to be some way to disable alerts for selected PCs. They can be ignored, but the "ignore" gets reset every time the condition disappears and re-appears. That's not even saying anything about the glaring typo ("turned on and connected to you network" - how professional) stabbing me in the eye each time I look at the alerts page...

It's just broken behavior. That's all. Also: bump. :P

if the system doesn't exist anymore, just turn off backups for it. It shouldn't prompt about missed backups or the like anymore. It won't delete the backups It will retain them as per policy indefinitely. It should solve most of the issues with AV updates and the like.

Also, I would recommend changing the backup schedule window if computers are being turned off consistently during backups.

Thanks!! I didn't even think to look for a "turn off backups" option - I thought it would delete them. Nope - I turned it off for the computers I just wanted to store backups for, and the alerts and nags went away!

Now I'm just left with this set of alerts... a bit smaller, but still way too much noise. And that last one - the failed backup? That is a real error I need to resolve, but the funny thing is that WHS caused the problem itself. I had to "restore" that PC to a new hard drive and now backups are no longer running. Tried reinstalling WHS connector, re-configuring backups, etc etc., and it still fails to run (a shadow copy service error). Really quite annoying, WHS seems to be showing signs of its weakness. I can only hope for a new version soon...

edit: How nice of it not to save my attachment automatically.

not your day, I guess.

Well, you could try clearing the event log for WHS, and manually deleting the registry entries for these errors and hope they go and stay away for the most part.

As for the backup thing, try running chkdsk /f /r or reconfigure the backups for that system. If that doesn't work, look up re-associating VSS.
