    • Replace WHS2011 - 2012E or wait for 2016E
Welcome. And yeah, the initial downloader is very small. It tend downloads the necessary components, which are GBs in size.    As for the WIn 7 Ultimate system, try this: http://homeservershow.com/windows-7-rc-x64-whs-password-conflict.html
    • Creating Boot Keys for Win7 & Win10 Clients
I seem to have found a solution - download Windows Kits and installing on the server. I am now getting the normal dialogue and steps to create a boot key on the Client Computer Backup - Tools tab.
    • Replace WHS2011 - 2012E or wait for 2016E
Thanks Drashna!! I'd been following various links on the ADK topic - I found one for Windows Kits: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/confirmation.aspx?id=34866 It downloads a small downloader app - the app then can download the Windows Kits files which can be put on a flash drive.  There is an adksetup.exe on the flash drive that installs on the server. After installing I have been able to create boot keys for Win7 and Win10 clients.  I have a old laptop that I'll test bare metal restores to. My next challenge is a Win7 Ultimate PC, I've connected 2 Win7 Home Premium clients but I kept having trouble with the one PC and then realized it is Win7 Ultimate and is confused since it supports a domain - I have had it for several years and use it in Homegroup mode.  It keeps hanging after I provide the admin credentials when the dashboard is trying to install from the server.  I keep winding up with "cannot connect to the server" error. I did figure out the Media Pack and installed it and validated that media streaming seems to work OK.
    • Shared folders are inaccessible
hi, howdy? got a problem that I'm hoping someone here could provide some leads on how to resolve without any drastic measures. I'm running an Acer H340 WHS v.1 server for years. It served me well and diligently for many years and have seen multiple HDD updates and replacements but the OS & features have been solid.  Currently, none of my shared folders are accessible anymore. Did a shut down of the whole network one day including the server, and when I turned it back on none of the shared folders were accessible. It prompted a user/password which failed on all accounts 1) user account 2) admin account 3) guest. The WHS connector software doesn't connect either. Normally, there is no prompt as my client PCs all have the same user/password as on the server. The only thing that works is the remote desktop using the admin account and all seem to be fine on the server - files are there, whs is running and seems to have all the user config, I tried the following without any success: Rebooting server, client PCs (got 3 clients all on Windows 10), router etc. Reset the user password on the server. Remotely restored the server's C drive + system state from Windows Backup (had it do backup of the C on a monthly basis). Removed the lock-out state under computer manager > users , as it would eventually gets lock out after multiple fails to access the shared folders. Removed the user account & folder from WHS (run from the server) and re-adding it with the right password and access rights. Removed and added back the WHS security permission on one of the shared folder.  At some point while debugging, one of the local PC got guest access (read only) but that eventually stopped on its own. I'm running out of ideas as what to do next. I believe if I plug in a CD-reader and put the WHS DVD, it will wipe-out the whole server. That server doesn't have a VGA port or anything so can't really go through any installation process. The only access I have is through remote desktop. Any help would be really welcomed. D
    • All Client Backups Missing/no Clients Will Backup - Can Seem To Do Them Manually
I have a similar problem. Havent diagnosed the problem to the same extent. Its as if all my clients are gone (though sw is still installed on them), no sign of server backups in dashboard and all client backups are grouped under archived in the dashboard   I'll have a root around to see if I see similar errors   W.
