Had the same problem after upgrading to Windows 10 from Windows 7. After much online research, it appeared there was possibly an issue with Windows Task Scheduler. Downloaded Repair Tasks from https://repairtasks.codeplex.com/ and ran it, letting the program repair everything it found. After reboot, was able to successfully install WHS 2011 Connector again. Note: Had also previously removed the computer from the server, which may or may not be necessary.
Do not know if this will work for anyone else.
Like fogdog54 I also have this default backup behavior when the win 10 computer is switched on. With one PC it is every time while with another it is every other time. They are recorded as automatic backups. Otherwise the behavior seems "normal". Casting around for a solution and will come back to this thread if anymore useful info emerges.
Upgraded W7 to W10 on several machines with no problems.
WHS 2011 running backups on solo W10 and multiple boot systems, no problems.
Gateway DX4320. Launchpad reported the server offline.
Uninstalled/reinstalled WHS Homeserver client several times.
Each time client installed normally.
On reBoot, LaunchPad and DashBoard report server is OFFLINE.
We are well into the UpGrade. I should have all the UpDates.
